Quick question about the forums and the way they're set up. In preferences, under notifications, you can get emailed for various things happening but I can't see anyway of subscribing to discussion and getting updates on these or even getting notified when a discussion you've participated in is added to unless you originated that discussion. I like the forum software and the way it's set up, and this is only a minor point, but I wanted to be sure I hadn't been an idiot and missed something obvious.

I think you've hit the nail on the head when it comes o the Vanilla Forums software. It's a work-in-progress and there are some things missing, or, at least, I can't find them either.
So, I'm looking for a plugin that will do the job. For the moment, I note that I've got emailsubscriptions plugin installed but it's not obvious how to subscribe. Unfortunately, rather than being part of the discussion, it's on your User Profile page.
Personally, I'd rather have an RSS feed and I'll see what I can do.
